Don’t send new visitors to your wall when starting out with facebook for business
If a fan page is well maintained, its wall is full of mostly text and threaded comments when you’ve become familiar with using facebook for business. It can be intimidating for a new visitor to see. They may feel the need to have to catch up in order to be in on the conversations taking place. Believe it or not, this may be a show stopper that keeps them from Liking your page.
If a fan page is not well maintained and there is hardly any activity or the activity is sparse, then it’s not really the best way to make a good impression on new visitors.
So no matter what state your page is when you make your facebook page in in terms of user engagement, it is always a good idea to have a reveal page, also known as a landing page or facebook template design, as the first thing they see when they land on your page.
Don’t be selfish with wall messages
Once you have traffic to your page and you are having conversations with your fans, it is important to have a plan in place to keep the momentum going. It is very easy to go from talking with your fans to talking AT your fans.
No one likes to be talked at. But everyone wants to be talked to and feel involved and know that their opinions count. Think of it like you are visiting a good friend at a coffee shop for some good conversation. In the same way, you would want your fans to feel welcomed and at home.
If you go with that mentality, then you wouldn’t dream of talking business all of the time. You would think of having light conversations about the the weather, current events, the goings ons of the past weekend, etc.
Next time you update your fan page, ask yourself how do i create a facebook page that gives customers a sense of comfort that their feedback is welcome? Try to include something that is outside of business talk. Find out more about your circle of fans, much like you would find out more about your close friends.
Don’t post too rarely
We all fall prey to allowing our fan page posts to fall by the wayside, even with the best of intentions. Our lives get busy, other priorities take precedence, and before you know it, two weeks have gone by since your last wall update.
It’s worse if you do this chronically. You fan page begins to look like a scene from the OK Coral with tumbleweeds blowing across the town’s main street.
Just like in all disciplines, they require attention and a certain amount of planning. Perhaps you should sit down on a weekend and write your week’s posts. By doing this, you don’t have to force your mind to be creative every day. You would simply, make your wall update then maintain any threads that have comments.
Don’t neglect comments/wall posts left by your fans
Fans that take the time to comment are fans that are attentive to your message. Reward their loyalty by commenting on their comments. This keeps the momentum going, allowing others to also chime in.
Before you know it, you could have flurries of activities on your page, encouraging non-fans to join in on the action. People like crowds. So, create a facebook page! It’s all within your power.
Don’t get left behind
Technology is an every moving target. If you are an opportunist, this is good news. If you feel threatened by it, it can be intimidating. Let’s view it with the perspective that the glass is half full.
You’ve probably noticed some changes with facebook in the last 18 months. Some fan pages are now displaying full landing pages. And on these landing pages are anything you can think of…

- etc.
And if you aren’t currently display landing pages, you are probably wondering how to create a facebook page like this how you would begin understanding its concept.
Facebook has made available a developer area where organizations and individuals can program special pages like these to display on the facebook website, webmaster tools that you should take advantage of. Through the Facebook Developer API, one can utilize the very powerful iframe technology.
